The news confirms a previous report from Upstream that said Halcon had taken a major position in the play after snapping up some 100,000 acres from Encana, an early mover in the Tuscaloosa Marine.
Halcon said on Wednesday that the Tuscaloosa Marine - widely known as the TMS - would become the company's third core area after the Bakken in North Dakota and the El Halcon in East Texas.
