The start-up had hoped to find crude with 11 wells drilled in the Amazon over two years but instead made six gas discoveries, two of which produced some of the highest flow test rates recorded in Brazil, with the HRT-9 well recording a rate of 750,000 cubic metres per day, according to geologist Ana Krueger.
The company recently completed an initial study on monetisation options with Russian partner Rosneft and Brazil state player Petrobras, which made a discovery in the basin back in the 1970s.
