The company, exploring the basin with 45% partner TNK-BP, said the 1-HRT-10-AM well found four "gas-bearing reservoir intervals" in the Jurua formation between 2,110 and 2,260 metres down.
The well, spudded on 22 October, is drilling at 2360 metres in Devonian sedimentary rock.
"This well located in the south of Block SOL-T-192 confirms the extension of hydrocarbon accumulations in the Solimoes Basin to the south of previously known occurrences and confirms the basin potential for new discoveries," the company said in a statement.
"After
