The Paris-based intergovernmental organisation said it expected natural gas to grow its share of the global energy market by 2.4% a year, down from the 2.7% it predicted last year and compared to 0.7% growth for oil and 2.6% for coal.
IEA executive director Maria van der Hoeven said that nonetheless “the golden age of gas remains in full swing”, with total gas demand expected to rise to nearly 4000 billion cubic metres in 2018 from 3427 bcm in 2012.
