Inpex announced on Thursday the assembly occurred at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Geoje, South Korea, where the central processing facility is being built.
Inpex president director Australia Seiya Ito said this was a big step for the project.
“The placement of the hull block marks the culmination of huge fabrication efforts since the first steel plates were cut in January last year,” he said at a ceremony at the shipyard.
