In an interview with Upstream, Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh would not publicly confirm that Total is on its way back, but other senior oil officials in Tehran told Upstream the ground was being prepared for the French player to return to its integrated upstreamdownstream project.

Total has historically led the way for the west in Iran but dropped out of its Phase 11 scheme, involving a liquefaction plant known as Pars LNG, nearly five years ago as the French government joined the US in imposing ever tougher sanctions against Iran because of alleged nuclear activities.
