The explorer told the Australian Securities Exchange on Friday that the column was confirmed at Bilby-1 in Block S-M-1166 by pressure information and seven oil samples recovered from the reservoirs.
One sample revealed 33 degree API gravity oil, while the remaining samples are being sent for laboratory testing.
This follows Karoon’s announcement earlier in the week that it had hit oil within an interbedded sand and shale interval over a gross section in excess of 200 metres.
