The Kazakhstan minister for economy and budget planning told the Financial Times that he hoped production could start up by 2016.
Erbolat Dossayev told FT that he hoped production would restart by late next year but said he could wait until 2016.
Production at the offshore oil discovery started in September but was stopped in October after gas leaks were detected in the project pipeline.
