Upstream reported in October that Dutchheavy-lift specialist Heerema was looking to order a huge newbuild and that KRB’sSwedish affiliate GVA Consultants was in line for the design award.
Houston-based KBR confirmed GVA has beenhanded the contract by Heerema Offshore Services for the basic design of a unitthat will measure about 200 metres by 97 metres.
No contract value was given. Upstream haspreviously reported that the newbuild cost would easily surpass $1 billion.
