The award follows the finalisation in December of the UK supermajor’s $16 billion production sharing contract with the Oman authorities for exploitation of unconventional gas reserves at the onshore field in Block 61.
The five-year deal with KCA covers construction and operation of the new rigs, to be built by manufacturing unit Bentec, with options for further newbuilds that would increase the value to $340 million.
