News wire AFP reported that a female engineer and a driver working for Italian construction company SICIM were snatched by unidentified rebels who asked about ongoing pipeline construction.
SICIM is building the 230-mile, 42-inch phase 1 of the Bicentenario pipeline in Colombia with a contract for constructing, testing, commissioning and start-up.
A SICIM representative in Colombia did not confirm the incident but forwarded an Upstream request for comment to the company's legal department.
