The contract is the largest single order for deep-water mooring ropes and believed to be "the largest ever order in the global synthetic fibre rope industry", according to Lankhorst.

A consortium of Hyundai Heavy Industries and Technip are building the spar, to be moored in the Aasta Hansteen field about 300 kilometres west of Bodo.

The platform will be moored with 17 polyester mooring lines in groups of six, five and six lines at a water depth of approximately 1300 metres.
