Linc said it would fight the allegations that its Chinchilla underground coal gasification caused environmental harm.

The company was serves a complaint and summons by the Queensland Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (DEHP) but was not specific about the nature of the allegations.

The government’s media statement said that there had been no impact on the neighbours surrounding the facility.

Managing director Peter Bond said this would not affect the company’s future.

“They will not affect the normal operations of the company in any way or the various expansion plans we have for UCG around the globe and the reality is it will take two years or more for this process to play out,” he said.
