The contract will see Inpex and Lukoil carry out exploration activities over the block, with the minimum work programme requiring them to gather 1375 kilometres of 2D seismic and drill one exploration well.

Inpex noted that the contract marked the first case the company had taken part in upstream oil and gas activities in Iraq.

Under the service contract Lukoil will hold a 60% operated interest in Block 10 with Inpex holding the remaining 40% equity.
