The major’s subsidiary Lukoil Overseas inked the productionsharing contract with the local government concerning Block CI-534 in theIvorian commercial capital of Abidjan on Tuesday.
The block in the Gulf of Guinea covers some 450 squarekilometres in water depths of between 800 metres and 1500 metres.
The new award comprises the eastern part of Block CI-401where Lukoil has been exploring since 2006.
Lukoil said a large prospect called Barracuda has beenidentified on the block.
