London-listed Empyrean Energy said in a release this week that Marathon had informed it that the number of wells planned at the gas condensate project had been reduced from about 65 wells to 28.

"Empyrean understands that the drill programme remains under discussion and may be subject to further change," it said.

Australia-based Empyrean said in early February that Marathon had "recently indicated that the drilling schedule for calendar year 2013 is likely to be reduced" at Sugarloaf.
