The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (Mend) said it had dispatched scuba divers to revisit Shell’s subsea pipeline near the Forcados crude oil export terminal in Delta State in the early hours of Thursday morning to inflict additional damage on the facility.
In a statement emailed to selected media by pseudonymous spokesman Jomo Gbomo, Mend claimed to have attacked the same site on 1 March, causing Shell to shut down the export facility after discovering the leakage.
