One remedy for leaks of the potent greenhouse gas was recently developed in Colorado, where top producers helped write laws along with regulators to identify and curtail the easiest sources of leaks, Fred Krupp, president of the US Environmental Defence Fund non-profit, told attendees of IHS CeraWeek in Houston.
The law, pushed by Colorado governor John Hickenlooper and passed just ten days ago, has become the strictest oil-and-gas air pollution law in the country as the first to regulate methane and not just volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
“We’re
