Mid-size deals to drive M&A sector: KPMG

More than half of oil & gas executives expect to engage in merger and acquisition activity this year, with an emphasis on mid-size deals of up to $250 million to consolidate core businesses, gain access to new technology and expand geographically, a survey has found.

Audit, tax and advisory firm KPMG interviewed 101 oil & gas industry executives about their M&A plans as part of a multi-industry poll of 1,001 managers.

KPMG energy sector lead partner for transactions & restructuring Tony Bohnert said that the focus for oil & gas players continued to be on cleaning up their portfolios rather than making big bets on large-scale deals.
