Australia-listed joint venture partner Planet Gas said the Sprigg-1 exploration probe, located in permit PEL 514, hit 6.3 metres of interpreted net pay in the Murta formation. Hydrocarbon shows and fluorescence was also observed in the Arrabury and Birkhead reservoirs.
The well, which has a total depth of 2472 metres, is now expected to undergo further cased hole tests, subject to rig availability.
