Murphy made the biggest Norphlet splash by blocks acquired in Central Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 231 on Wednesday, snapping up 12 licenses in the trend located in the eastern part of the central US Gulf.
Along with Colombian partner Ecopetrol, Murphy placed the 10th-highest single bid of the auction at $30.2 million to win DC 619 as the sole bidders.
