Murphy confirmed on Thursday that its Titan exploration well was spud "a few days ago" in De Soto Canyon Block 178 with the Transocean drillship Discoverer Deep Seas.
The spud date had been pushed back a couple of times as Murphy waited for the rig to wrap up work at the company's Dalmatian subsea field development to the north of Titan.
