Statoil Peregrino production director Johan Mikkelsen said the first of the devices, which are designed to delay and also reduce the impact of water breakthrough in long horizontal wells, should be installed in the first half of next year.
He said Statoil teams had identified about 10 wells at Peregrino that could benefit from the technology, which has the potential to add about 20 million barrels to reserves.
