The Snow King 13-33 exploration well was drilled to a depth of 8400 feet and hit an oil bearing pay zone in the Mississippian Spergen formation.
Nighthawk said the pay zone had been identified on logs and successfully brought into production at an initial rate of between 300 and 400 barrels per day.
It added that the zone had similarities to the existing production from the Steamboat Hansen Block at Arikaree Creek.
