The US-focused shale company said the John Craig 6-2 well, which was drilled to a depth of 2514.6 metres, produced more than 600 barrels of oil from the Cherokee shale formation during a continuous 24-hour flow test. The well had flowed under natural pressure through a one-inch choke.
Nighthawk said data collected from the well, which included mud logs, samples and wire line gamma ray and pulse neutron logs, also identified three additional potential oil-bearing formations at shallower depths than Cherokee.
