The long-standingrow over ownership of the South China Sea has the potential to disrupt offshoreoperations, London-based risk analysts Maplecroft have said.
"Due to the complexity of the multi-party disputes, a peaceful resolution is not expected in the foreseeable future," the report warned.
“China has assumed an increasingly confrontational stance bywarning against exploration activities without its consent and by recourse attimes to military force to enforce its maritime claims,” Maplecroft said, citing the latest naval stand-off over fishing rights in theScarborough Shoal.
