A spate of recent bomb blasts has seen two explosions within the past week alone at oil and gas facilities in Yemen.
Maplecroft Middle East analyst Torbjorn Soltvedt told Upstream that “given Yemen’s ongoing political transition, militants are likely to continue to target energy infrastructure to maintain pressure on Yemeni authorities”.
At the same time, Soltvedt said the attacks would not put off foreign explorers from mounting operations in Yemen as those willing to invest there were likely already “mindful of the risks” involved.
