Reducing dependence on foriegn oil imports from hostile regimes has been a high-profile but elusive goal for the nation articulated by US presidents for decades.
A production surge from shale gas in the US and Canada and possible resulting LNG exports is expected to alter but not upend longtime global political trends, the firm said in its report.
