The annual survey of risk trends in offshore activity carried out by the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) showed a positive trend last year, with fewer incidents occurring – none of them serious – and no fatalities.
The injury rate is now 0.48 serious injuries per million hours of work on the Norwegian continental shelf.
PSA director general Anne Myhrvold said the positive development was the result of efforts by oil companies to curb accident risk but she added the agency was “concerned that cost pressures in the industry will, over time, impact the risk level”.
