While Queensland’s CBM industry has boomedin recent years with three export projects now under construction to monetisethe state’s gas resources, New South Wales CBM industry has virtually ground toa halt.
Several companies put a stop to their CBMexploration operations in NSW last year after the state government placed tighterrestrictions on the industry.
Macfarlane noted that there had been morethan 4900 wells drilled in Queensland, with more than 29,000 people employedboth directly and indirectly in the state’s CBM industry.
