Speaking at the 2014 APPEA conference,Santos senior geologist Patrick Despland revealed that only a total of 13 wellswere drilled offshore Australia last year, down from the 21 which were spuddedin 2012.
Despite the fall in drilling, Despland wasable to put a positive spin on offshore exploration in Australia.
“Out of the 13 wells, there has been sixgas discoveries so indicating a kind of nice success ratio,” he said.
