OGX said late Tuesday that Gilberto Carvalho Lima had been appointed to the exploration post.
Carvalho Lima has spent 35 years in the oil and gas industry and joined OGX in 2011, the company said. In 2013, he became executive director of geological operations.
He also held various managerial posts in Petrobras' exploration department, including leadership of planning and execution of drilling and evaluation of strategic exploration projects.
