Talukdar’s appointment is effective from Thursday, state-owned explorer Oil India (OIL) said in a release.
Before heading the DGH, Talukdar was the director of exploration and development at OIL.
He was heading OIL’s exploration, development, reservoir management and drilling department since December 2007.
58-year-old Talukdar is a graduate from the prestigious Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad and has more than 37 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
Prior to joining OIL in 1977, Talukdar worked in the Reservoir Engineering Division of ONGC.
Talukdar has been instrumental in various new oil & gas discoveries at OIL.
