As of Thursday the well was at a depth of 3351 metres and Oil Search said it was carrying out a well test on the open hole section of the well, which includes the Euphrates formation.
Initial results recorded flow rates of up to 4000 barrels of fluid per day, with up to 1100 barrels of oil per day.
Oil Search said the results indicated a “significant improvement” on flow rates seen in a previous test of the well last month which resulted in a flow of between 400 and 500 bpd of oil and 1 million cubic feet of gas per day.
