The NPD’s approval comes after Norway’s safety agency gave its green light for the probe last week.
The Vienna-headquartered explorer will deploy semi-submersible Transocean Barents to drill the 7324/7-2 probe at the Wisting Main prospect in the Hoop-Maud basin.
The well is a follow-up to last year’s Wisting Central discovery in PL 537 seen as having opened up a new play in the northernmost part of the Barents.
