The use of open Industrial Control Systems (ICS) may be an ‘openinvitation’ for hackers to attack facilities, London-based insurance and riskmanagement firm Marsh said.
Marsh chairman for global energy practice Andrew George saidthat next-generation facilities were vulnerable because “open ICS haveintegrated controls that are linked with other information technology networks,giving hackers the opportunity to gain access through back doors and exploitsystem weaknesses to their advantage”.
