The wildcat was drilled to atotal depth of 3297 metres and encountered thicker than expected, good quality,Gamba and Coniquet/Dentale reservoir sands.
Ophir said no significanthydrocarbon shows were encountered in the targeted reservoirs but noted that minorshows were interpreted at shallower intervals which it said provided evidenceof a working hydrocarbon system in the offshore North Gabon basin.
It added that well logresponses in the deeper pre-salt stratigraphy were similar to those observedonshore in Gabon where they are indicative of an interbedded pre-salt sourceand reservoir system.
