The company said on Monday it has agreed on heads of terms to use a deep-water drillship for the programme, which is due to start in the first quarter of 2014.
An Ophir spokeswoman would not disclose the name of the second rig or any further details of the deal when contacted by Upstream.
A total of six firm rig slots plus additional contingent slots have been agreed, with the multi-well programme due to start in early February, according to Ophir chief executive Nick Cooper.
