Padouck Deep-1 is being drilled using the Vantage Drilling-owned drillship Titanium Explorer and, Ophir claims, will be the first well to target the pre-salt play in the offshore North Gabon basin.
The company estimates the prospect to hold mean recoverable resources of about 1 billion barrels in up to three reservoirs and has previously stated that the well carries a 20% chance of success.
