The Africa-focused player said on Wednesday it had revised its mean recoverable resource estimate for the Jodari field, located in Block 1, upwards by 700 billion cubic feet to 4.1 trillion cubic feet.
As a result, the company’s best estimate mean recoverable resource estimate for its Tanzanian blocks (including Block 1, 3 and 4) is now 12.6 Tcf.
“We are pleased that appraisal and (drill stem test) data from Jodari-1 has increased confidence in the world-class reservoir and led to a 22% increase in this anchor asset for Tanzania's first (liquefied natural gas) project,” Ophir chief executive Nick Cooper said in a statement.
