According to Hays Oil & Gas, local oil and gas professionals working in Australia earn an average salary of US$162,390 (A$157,710) per year.
This tops Norway’s average pay of US$151,485 per year, the Australian recruiter said.
Meanwhile, New Zealand has moved up the ladder from eighth spot in last year’s Oil & Gas Salary Guide to third, at US$126,675 per annum.
Netherlands and Canada followed as fourth and fifth on the list, respectively.
