The well was spudded on Saturday night and is expected to take about 40 days to drill to a planned total depth of 2487 metres.

It is targeting shallower sandstone reservoirs than those encountered in the Parit Minyak-2 well, which in July hit several oil shows across Eocene/Oligocene Pematang sandstones and flowed 37-degree API oil at a rate of between 200 to 400 barrels per day during drill stem testing.
