The Houston-based, Nasdaq-listed deep-water specialists said that the Shimshon well had encountered more than 62 feet of natural gas pay in the Bet Guvrin sands.
Situated in a water depth of 3622 feet, the well was drilled by the Ensco 5006 semi-submersible to a subsea depth of 14,445 feet after spudding in late April.
ATP said that it planned to give more details about the discovery later in the current quarter.
