The Mexican state oil firm is considering signing a letter of intent to buy up a 51% stake in the Barreras shipyard, Spain's El Pais and other news sources reported on Tuesday.
"This confirms that Mexico is confident in Galicia and its naval sector, and Galicia is showing that it can be a stable partner for great growth plans of a country in a major expansion," economy and industry minister Francisco Conde said in a government statement.
