The 300-tonne tension PLSV was awarded back in 2011 to Sapura Navegacao – a joint venture between SapuraKencana and Seadrill.
Sapura Navegacao subcontracted OSX to build the unit, but the oil services company of Brazilian entrepreneur Eike Batista’s former multi-billion dollar empire went through a financial meltdown and filed for bankruptcy protection late last year.
The PLSV, named Sapura Esmeralda, was originally due for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2014.
