The state-led Brazilian player said the 3-RJS-706 extension well had "strengthened the potential of good light-quality oil from Iara" and confirmed the presence of high-quality 28 degree API oil.
The reservoirs "present optimal conditions for porosity and permeability, with superior characteristics than those encountered in the discovery well," Petrobras said in a statement.
"The results of the formation test confirm the excellent productivity of the reservoirs."
