The 3-RJS-706 well in block BM-S-11 confirmed “good quality oil” in carbonate reservoirs at a depth of 5260 metres and continues to drill ahead, the state-led oil firm said.
Samples indicated oil of 28 degrees API.
The probe, the fourth in the Iara area, is 226 kilometres off the Rio de Janeiro state in 2197 metres of water.
A formation test is on the agenda “to assess the reservoir’s productivity,” Petrobras said.
