The company's board of directors approved on Thursday the Logistics Infrastructure Optimisation plan, or Infralog, which aims to realise up to $1.6 billion in cuts by 2016.

Petrobras will focus on projects relating to offshore support bases and airports, natural gas processing and transportation of oil exports and refined products.

"The Infralog Program represents a new way of managing logistics projects at Petrobras," the company said in a statement.

Targets
