The state-run Brazilian company said an underground pipe at the Puesto Hernandez field spilled about 340 barrels of combined oil and water, equivalent to 16.7 barrels of crude, early Sunday morning.

Authorities were notified, production was shut in shortly thereafter and with no reports of affected water supplies, Petrobras said in a note to investors Thursday.

"The situation is controlled and cleanup work in the area is its final stage," the company said.
