The Brazilian state company said its 9-SPS-77 well started producing from the Cidade de Sao Paulo production, storage and offloading unit at 33,000 barrels per day.
The system of buoyancy supported risers (BSR) allows for the "ascending" section of the riser to be supported by a submerged buoy and allows for the use of rigid steel pipes in ultra-deep waters, according to Petrobras.
